I‘m working on a very long Christmas post filled with more pictures than you could ever imagine, but in the meantime, I thought it would be really fun to see how my Christmas style has evolved over the last 5 years. I never really realized how much my style changed throughout the years, but I’m really liking this year’s Christmas, so hopefully each year it’ll keep getting better and better.
2011 was my first year to have my very own tree, and I was determined to use a lot of browns and bronzes that year. I’m not sure why, but I was very into the brown for a few years. I also insisted on getting these “cool white” lights for the tree.
2012 was our first very married Christmas! We had just built our house and were so excited to have our very own 1st Christmas tree in our brand new home. We didn’t realize it at the time, but this tree was a little small for our space. We definitely could have picked out a bigger one, so we noted that for the next year. I was still into the brown and cool white lights this year.
2013 was our second married Christmas. We had been in our house a year at this point, and things were still pretty much the same. I couldn’t find a picture of this tree not in the dark, so maybe it wasn’t my favorite one? I did finally switch to the white lights, and what a difference those make!
2014 was the year we made the move back home. Not too much had changed. Still lots of browns even in the curtains.
2015 – Our fourth Christmas and second back home and our first lightly flocked Christmas tree. This was the first year I decided to try vertical ribbon instead of horizontal ribbon, and I really liked it. I also started ditching the browns and went with more silver and gold for the decor. Also note, we changed the curtains and painted the wall teal and installed white shelves.
2016 – This year, we went with a medium flocked tree, and the flocking is absolutely perfect! I switched out the curtains recently, and I’m highly considering painting the teal wall black to give it a new look. This tree is definitely my favorite out of all of these from recent years, but I hope my style continues to grow and lean more towards a “white Christmas” look. In our next house, I would love to not have the tv above the fireplace, but I know that’s going to be a big battle for me to win. 😉
Which tree is our favorite? I really hope it’s not that first one. Yikes! Has your style changed throughout the years?
I like all of them, but I love the 2012 one because I saw it in person in bossier during my visit after the new year!
