Hello! Can you believe we are already halfway finished with this crazy 2020? Time is starting to fly by now. Although, I’m pretty sure I did not feel that way in April and May! You agree? Anyways, despite this wild year, I thought it would be fun to check in on my new year’s resolutions to see how well I am doing or not doing. HA!
Due to this crazy Covid-19, I’m not sure things are growing the way I intended, but hey, I can only do so much! With the whole world basically shutting down, people aren’t having parties, which means they also aren’t buying invitations from Notable Affairs. Although I do wish my business was back up and running and growing, I have been enjoying more time off and away from the computer, but I love my business and hope it picks up back again soon!
Goal 1: Be nice and forgive myself for my struggles these past two years. I have been nicer and more forgiving to myself for the past. It’s hard being a mom and feeling like the weight is on your shoulders. Some days, I just try to stay afloat and not lose my cool, but of course, there are times when things get hard and I lose myself a little. I do think I’ve been doing so much better though! It’s a bit overwhelming knowing that Elliott learns things from what I say and do with him every day. That’s a lot of pressure, right?!
Goal 2: Read at least one book a month. You guys, I have been killing this goal! I have already read 25 books so far this year, and 2020 is only halfway over! I’m planning to do some book reviews very soon, so stay tuned for that! I’ve read some really, really good ones!!
Goal 3: Limit phone usage after 8:30pm. Not going to lie, I’ve been doing terrible with this, but I hope to do better soon! I need to remember 8:30 is shut down time. Maybe I can find an app for that?! HA!
Goal 4: Develop a skincare routine. I officially have a skincare routine, and I’m really happy about it! I currently use all Tula products, and I love them. My skin looks so much better than it used to! I’ve been using Tula for over 6 months now, and I’m so happy I found it. It’s really nice knowing I’m taking better care of my skin these days. I definitely don’t want to regret that later.
Goal 5: Complete Fitness Carli Challenge again. I haven’t done Fitness Carli again yet, but I have completed a different 8 week program, so that’s a win in my book. I really enjoy lifting weights, so any program that does that is something that keeps my interest. Running again in the fall when the weather gets cooler is something else I’m looking forward to. I’m not really a runner, but I’d love to start. Everyone starts somewhere, right?
Goal 6: Get Notable Affairs back to where it was before baby! Obviously, due to Covid-19, things are not going in the direction I had hoped, but there’s really not much I can do about it now, so it is what it is! (I really don’t like that saying, by the way, but I just said it because it fits perfectly with this situation.)
Goal 7: Get cooking! I have been doing a lot more cooking this year, and I am really proud of that! Lately, I’ve been doing Fresh Fuel meals, and for the most part, I have enjoyed them. Learning how to eat clean is such a big process. I’m still working through it, but overall I already feel better. I am only on week 3, and I haven’t seen much movement on the scale, but eating better and exercising regularly is helping my mood as well as functioning happily day to day. I know the scale will move in the right direction soon as long as I stick with it!
My biggest weakness is sweets. I love to bake and not being able to do it very much is such a bummer, but I’m hopeful that once the scale starts going down, I’ll be able to have a little bit here and there.
As you can see, I’m not doing too terrible so far in 2020! How are your goals going? Are you still sticking with them or did Covid-19 throw a big wrench in your plans? It’s not too late to start up again, so get with it! I’m here to cheer you on!
So spot-on, as always! Look forward to the book review!
