Happy Valentine’s Day! Tonight, Jacob and I are spending the evening at home. He usually cooks dinner for us on Valentine’s Day, which of course I love because that means I am not the one having to cook. WOOHOO!! I’m really looking forward to those steaks and baked potatoes tonight! #YUM
Today, I decided to make some molten lava cakes for Sally’s Baking Challenge. You can find the recipe and more about the challenge on her website, Sally’s Baking Addiction. She’s one of my favorites to check out for dessert recipes, and I’m so excited about the monthly challenges because I never get to bake as much as I’d like, so these challenges are perfect for me. It’ll make me bake at least once a month, which makes me super excited!
Don’t these cakes just look divine? Trust me, they were! You really should make some soon. Have I convinced you yet??!! You can add ice cream, fruit and powdered sugar, etc to top them off. I chose my favorite… ice cream, but so many other things would be just as perfect.
This cake actually turned out pretty great. I halved the ingredients because apparently we only have 2 ramekins in those house. I gotta fix that soon, Crate & Barrel! 😉 I didn’t use the correct kind of chocolate (because I had already been to the grocery store 3 times this week), so it wasn’t really molten like it should be, but the flavor was there, so I definitely want to try it again with the correct ingredients.
In case you’re wondering, the rose gold flatware is from Target, and the plates are old, but they are from Pier 1.
I decided to do a quick makeover on my bar cart for the holiday. I picked up some very cute light pink glass cake stands from the Target Dollar section, and they’re so beautiful, especially for $5. I’m seriously wishing I would have grabbed a couple other colors as well, so I might just have to go back soon. 😉 I know you can’t really see them very easily, but trust me, they’re oh so pretty in pink!!
This is our 5th married Valentine’s Day, and our 5th wedding anniversary is coming up next month! I can’t believe it’s almost been 5 years! Some days it feels like we were married in Eureka Springs just yesterday, and then other days, it feels like we’ve been married 20 years. It’s funny how that happens. I’m planning to share some fun memories and photos from our wedding day next month near our anniversary, so please come back and you’ll learn a little bit more about both of us! Until then… Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope you are spending it with some of the ones you love.
LOVE! Your cakes are so cute! They look delicious! Happy Valentine’s Day! Can’t wait for your anniversary posts! 🙂 🙂
