Light fixtures are one of the easiest things to upgrade in your home. If you know how to do a little electrical work, then it’s an easy peasy update that can take no time at all but can have a huge impact on a room or makeover.
I love light fixtures and have for quite some time. Before we moved into our current house, I had already ordered a few new ones that would make our house look a little more modern (and updated). We ended up replacing almost all of the lights over time because the ones in our home were severely dated or just downright ugly. 😉
I look for light fixtures all over the internet. I don’t really have one favorite place to browse, but some of the stores I like to search first when I’m looking for new lighting are:
I’ve never purchased from Shades of Light or Lamps Plus yet, but I think if I’m in the market for something for our next house, I’ll probably turn to them for my lighting needs. Shades of Light sends out magazines every few months, and I always save them and circle my favorites just in case I need them later.
If you need to update something in your home quickly, lighting is my first recommendation. It can really change the entire look of the room just by changing 1 light fixture.
For example: Our breakfast room use to have a silver drum light hanging over our table, but when I decided to give the room a little makeover, I switched out the light, and what a difference it made. It totally made the room come together, and it was actually the final piece I purchased for the makeover because I knew I needed to find that perfect one. Take a look at the before and after:
See what I mean? There wasn’t anything wrong with the silver light, but the gold light ties together with the gold in the buffet table creating a cohesiveness the room needed. This room is still my favorite because 1.) it’s done and 2.) that light fixture. 😉
If you’re looking to upgrade any chandeliers in your home, I picked out some of my favorites from Shades of Light for a rustic, modern or elegant dining room.
RUSTIC – These are perfect for the farmhouse look. If that’s your home decor style, here are my 5 favorites.
ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE
MODERN – If your style is more modern or eclectic, any of these would be perfect chandeliers for that type of dining space and decor.
ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE
ELEGANT – My preferred lighting style is the elegant, classy, crystal designs. It doesn’t work for every home, but for ours, it’s the design and look I tend to gravitate towards.
ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE
What style do you use when decorating your home? Have you always had that style or have you recently started changing things out?
