Tuesday night, we ventured off to Houston to see some comedians you may or may not have heard of: Adam Sandler, David Spade, Nick Swardson, and Rob Schneider! I had been looking forward to their show for a couple of months since we bought the tickets. I was super worried that I hyped it up too much in my head and that I would be let down when we actually went, but I’m so glad I was right. They were hilarious! Definitely a bit dirty at times, but that was to be expected, and I honestly don’t mind it a little anyways.
Rob Schneider went first, and he was only up there about 10-15 minutes, but he was really funny and acted as the host for the night! Next up was Nick Swardson, and to be honest, I really don’t know much about him other than the fact that he was in Malibu’s Most Wanted, which Jacob and I (well, mostly Jacob) watched on tv about a month ago. His routine was about 20-25 minutes or so. When he was finished, Rob Schneider came back out to tell a few more jokes, and then introduced David Spade. I’ve loved David Spade for so long, so I was really hopeful that he would be funny, and he totally was! I think he was on stage for about 30-35 minutes, and then finally it was Adam Sandler’s turn. His act included lots of jokes about his wife and daughters (which weren’t mean at all) and of course fun little songs. One of the best things he did was sing his song about Chris Farley. If you haven’t heard the song, look it up because I’m sure it’s on youtube. It was really touching, and what a great guy we lost long ago. Adam Sandler was on stage for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, so he definitely was the main act.
I am so, so glad we went. Our seats were great… about 15 rows from the front, and we were on the end which meant that I didn’t have to try to see around people. The night flew by, and I found myself hoping they would stay on stage a little longer. I really felt like this show was a one of a kind event, and I’m so thankful Jacob wanted to go! I hope they come around again soon because we really enjoyed it.
Photos and Video weren’t allowed, but they did turn on the lights at the end, so we could get a picture. This was the best I could get!
The next morning we went to Floor & Decor. If you’ve never been there, it’s a huge floor and tile store. They have some countertops and backsplash as well. We’ve been discussing ripping out the tile floor in our house and replacing it with hardwood, so we went to see what all of the options were. I picked up a box of hardwood we liked a while back, but Jacob wasn’t with me then, so he wanted to see what all there was in person. We still like the hardwood we chose, but we also saw another one we liked that was the same price… decisions!
We also looked at tile options for our bathrooms and laundry rooms. I would prefer not to have hardwood in those areas, so tile is the way to go. We’ll be replacing tile with tile in those rooms, which might seem silly, but it’s required because the tile is all throughout our house, which is pretty open, so tearing up some and leaving some in other places is probably not really an option for us. Plus, who doesn’t want to have new/modern tile in their home? The tile we currently have is not so cute anyways.
I figured out long ago that I have very expensive taste… but you knew that already, right?! I’m attracted to marble of course, but I don’t think I would ever put that in this house, since it’s not our “forever” home. So, yeah! It was hard to find something that I liked, but I did stumble upon these options that are porcelain, not marble, but they do look like marble.
I think the last one is the one I like to most, and guess what?? It’s actually cheaper than the other two by like $0.60 per sq ft. BONUS!! I’m not sure if we’ll actually buy this, but it was my favorite one there. I think I prefer the matte look over the glossy look. Plus, I read online that the glossy tiles may be more slippery when wet, and we definitely do not need anyone to fall in our bathrooms.
My vision for our bathrooms is this:
Black cabinets with modern (simple) drawer pulls
Light Countertops (maybe white sparkly quartz or light gray granite?)
White and Gray Tile Floors
It sounds very modern and clean, which is what I really want for our bathrooms. I think the black cabinets will be ultra chic and dress up the rooms, but the lighter counters and flooring will make it brighter in there, so the cabinets don’t make the room too dark.
I have no idea if/when we’ll be able to tackle any of this, but I do have my vision for whenever we’re ready! Have you ever been to Floor & Decor? It’s a fun store if you’re looking for flooring or like dreaming about the possibilities of a reno! 😉
