Since starting my invitation business, Notable Affairs, over 4.5 years ago, I’ve always wanted that “dream” office. You know, those beautiful, huge office spaces that you see in magazines and online that you know you’ll never afford? Well, that’s what I want, except for a fraction of the price. I have *expensive* designer taste, so that’s where the problem happens.
I’ve always truly wanted an elegant, but also oh-so-functional office space, and I’m hoping I can transform my small office into something stylish, yet extremely functional. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my office now… if you ignore the super cheap bookcases from Target that don’t exactly provide that elegant wall of bookcases you see online. 😉
I long for a long wall of bookshelves that I can decorate to my heart’s content with some cabinets below to store away all of my cardstock and envelopes as well as other printing and shipping supplies. Something like this would just be perfect for my office space:
See how beautiful and functional that wall is? That’s exactly what I’d like for my office now. Mine would need to be a little different in order to be functional for my business, and of course I need a tv in there 😉 but this would be pretty much the look I’d like… white with a dark accent color behind it with some cabinets at the bottom.
I’m really hoping I can convince Jacob to help me build something like that, but who knows if he’ll be game. I’ve mentioned it a few times, but I’m not sure if he’s taking me seriously just yet. I gotta keep working on that! HA!
Here’s what I’m envisioning for my future office makeover:
It looks just like something I would like, right? Black, white, gold, silver, teal and pops of dark purple! I’ve been on a purple kick lately, so I might change my mind on that color, but the rest is for sure happening. Teal, black and metallics are my go-to throughout our home, so of course I would include those in this room too!
I’m not sold on that particular light fixture, so I’m definitely keeping my eye open for something for this room. It’s beautiful, but I’m not sure if I want to commit to that one just yet.
That rug is so perfect for me because I wouldn’t have to commit to a certain color for the room if I change my mind later or need to redecorate a little.
This desk is a steal of a deal right now, and I’m having a difficult time not pulling to trigger on it!
I haven’t made my mind up on the chairs yet, but I do like these a lot. I probably won’t make any decision on chairs until the rest of the room comes together, but here’s just my starting place. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll be able to work on this makeover, but it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
What do you think about this design?! I’d love your feedback!
